Wildflowers

The wildflower meadows are now well established. After the yellows, reds and Blues of the annuals such as Corncockle, Corn Marigold, Cornflower and Poppy in 2005, the perennial wildflowers are now coming into their own. In spring the bulbs planted by the pupils of Broomhill infant’s school are up and will be followed by colourful meadows dominated by Buttercups, Red Campion and Ox Eye Daisy in May and June and later Wild Carrot, Spear thistle and Ragwort in July and August amongst a host of other wildflowers. From our original 2003 baseline survey of 33 species we now have at least 102 different species of wildflower in Lynwood Gardens. We are currently developing a Lynwood Gardens Herbal of all the medicinal and edible plants on site for use by local schools and universities.
